cast no shadow

I almost named this poem “a poet’s passage”. Personally, the notion of death terrifies me. But this vignette is as close to a perfect death as I can ever envision. Given the intimate nature of a poem like this, guessing it will resonate very differently across a wide spectrum of readers. Love to hear your thoughts. And we have seen death in the last year so dramatically less idyllic and pastoral, I am hoping these words and images provide you with some peace. If but for a brief moment.
