Hi, friends. Time to dust off your Old Testament for a reread of 2 Samuel 11 and 12.

The sins of King David with Bathsheba had repercussions, up to and including the destruction of Israel within two generations of his death.

But most initial readers felt these biblical allusions simply enriched the themes in its reflection on power, moreover the abuse of power. For me, that was the heart of the emotional resonance in writing it.

And I kinda love the little “F you” revenge sentiment in the last line, too. She is so done putting up with his shit. Love to hear your thoughts in the Comments section.
