Happy New Year, my dear digital friends!
I thought I would begin 2023 with a song of gratitude, a paean of appreciation.
This year, I am making a stronger commitment to pause amidst the chaos and insanity of life. To spend a moment acknowledging all the small blessings that get lost in the white noise.
That – and to lose 20 lbs. I would be really excited to tighten back up for 2023. 🤣
One of those blessings I wanted to acknowledge is you, my friends. Thank you for reading and reacting to my poetry each week.
Your participation in this creative process is essential for me to continue to deliver art worth reading. My poetry does not exist without you.
Lift your glass. Here’s to a 2023 full of gratitude and appreciation. 🥂
And, as always, if you enjoy this poem, please feel free to comment below. Cheers.

i greet the dawn
i greet the dawn…
a lake without a ripple
listening to the darkness recede
with all its whispers and mysteries
bathed in the warmth
of tangerine grace
i am grateful for being created a lake
ever proud that i
can capture the sky
reflect her beauty in my silent depths
there is nothing i would rather be
save for that which i am
a purposeful creation
…i greet the dawn
a boat upon the lake
trusting in her gentle agency
safe within her delicate embrace
